What!?! Cut needless spending to eliminate debt!?! BRILLIANT!!!
Just humor me, and watch a little of this video.
Here is the link to that "debt clock" that you saw at the beginning of the video. Scary, no?
U.S. National Debt Clock : Real Time
Should you have liked that, here is another section based upon the same issue. Pay attention for the "Mountain Dew and Cheetos" portion.

ReplyDeleteIf what you are saying is that it is not ALL President Obama's fault, then I agree with you!
ReplyDeleteSure! Lots of people have been at fault for poor money-managing practices in our government as of late, from BOTH political parties! You'll notice, Beck mentions that McCain and Bush are both "progressives."
The point of the matter is this: If we're going to get out of this mess, we have to stop pointing fingers at "the OTHER guy," and man up, admit it's a COLLECTIVE problem, and DO THE RIGHT THING! (Like, cut back on the spending...)
Sorry that my point was unclear. I wanted to show how compared to the bush era tax cuts, the numerous wars, etc - most of this other stuff is pretty pale. I find it amusing that many people call for tax cuts but simultaneously get mad at the debt we're in.
ReplyDeleteSure it's nice to say we should decrease spending - but it really is so much harder than it looks. There are all these nuances and games being played in politics. Its easy to stand by as an outsider and say - hey this thing was bad. But let's be frank - porkbarrel keeps people elected and will continue to happen until people start doing something about it.
Ps: I'm not sure if you meant to imply that its mostly obama's fault with your all comment - which i'd have to disagree with. At the same time - I completely disagree with the giant bills Obama has pushed through. But meh I don't really study economics. Maybe some of it makes sense.
Thanks for clarifying, and it seems that we're quite on the same page.
ReplyDeleteThe only point I'd add is that when the public or government adopts an "oh well. What happens, happens," attitude, we're in big trouble. Point of the matter is that we CAN do something about it if enough people are willing to stand up to the people WE elected and say, "HEY! You're not doing what I elected you to do!"
It seems to me that House, Senate, and Administration seem completely out of touch with the majority opinion, and are caving to pressure from special interest groups that make the news.
